Newport Miner / Gem State Miner

The newspaper began publication in 1897 and continues today. It serves Pend Oreille County in Washington and also west Bonner County and the communities of Oldtown (originally Newport, Idaho), Coolin, Priest Lake, Blanchard, Laclede, and Priest River.
The Pend Oreille County Historical Society and Museum holds an archive of the original newspapers dating from 1897 to 1978.
